Today the product is Skybrary — when we started, it was Reading Rainbow, LeVar Burton's educational program. The digital version began as an iPad app with a subscription model before a 2014 crowdfunding campaign raised over $5 million to build a free web platform for every child.
Skybrary now belongs to Reading Is Fundamental, the oldest non-profit children's literacy organization in the United States.

Parent dashboard, e-commerce & EDU platform
Parents Dashboard
Skybrary delivers educational digital media for children at home and in schools. Parents manage subscriptions through the Parents Dashboard — tracking books read, time spent, devices used, and more. We built the dashboard and e-commerce platform on Drupal 7, integrated with back-office systems and Stripe.
In 2022 we began migrating this platform to Drupal 10 and React.
EDU Platform
Schools access classroom and school-wide educational content. Teachers monitor student activity with detailed reports — made possible by the successful crowdfunding campaign.
We implemented the full Schools version for admins, teachers, children, and parents on Drupal 7, integrated with the company's back-office. Running since 2015 with 500,000+ classrooms worldwide, we continue maintenance and feature development.
In 2022 we migrated to Drupal 10 and React, including a complete rewrite of the core API from Java to Laravel — preserving ~100 service interfaces while dramatically improving extensibility, test coverage, and performance. The core API is the foundation for the iPad app, Kindle app, Parent Dashboard, EDU platform, and all websites.
